offering a 3-year PhD fellowship at Medical Museion, Department of Public
Health, University of Copenhagen, focused on Research Culture, commencing 15
September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the Group & Research:
Medical Museion is a public museum and a university research institution that brings together research, public/stakeholder involvement, and museum activities. The Medical Museion is part of the Department of Public Health and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), providing for close engagement with scientists and exposure to a variety of health research methodologies.
Topics at the intersection of
medicine, science, culture, and society are of interest to the research group,
including:
- the materiality, history, philosophy,
methodology, aesthetics and epistemic workings of medical science
- our relationship to the body, health and
the existential sides of our physical being
- the enduring role museums at the intersection of research and society.
Many of the research approaches
are related to Medical Humanities, but faculty members also come from a variety
of disciplines, including History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, STS,
Material Culture Studies, Visual Anthropology, Museology, and Science Communication.

The funding initiative aids
outstanding candidates who aspire to begin PhD studies at Denmark's Medical
Museum, Department of Public Health. STS, History, Philosophy of Science,
Business Studies, Sociology, Ethnography, and/or Biography are some of the
possible backgrounds for the successful candidate.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have
qualifications corresponding to a master’s degree related to the subject area
of the project and must be equivalent to a Danish master’s degree.
Other important criteria:
- The grade point average achieved
- Professional qualifications relevant to the
PhD project
- Previous publications
- Relevant work experience
- Other professional activities
- Curious mind-set with a strong interest in
how contemporary science is conducted
- Demonstrable interest in medical sciences
is desirable
- Language skills.
