The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from highly motivated and outstanding researchers in the general area of edge artificial intelligence (AI) for 6G networks within its Signal Processing and Communications (SIGCOM) research group. SnT carries out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners.

The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the large Horizon Europe research project ETHER – sElf-evolving terrestrial/non-Terrestrial Hybrid nEtwoRks that is to start on 01/01/2023. ETHER is going to provide a framework for the integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network ecosystem that involves an efficient and zero-touch resource management, provides solution for key radio access network challenges, and identifies the business opportunities for potential stakeholders. To realize this novel system concept, ETHER relies on a multi-layered and unified space-aerial-terrestrial architecture, leveraging the benefits of Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning for the optimization of the highly complex and heterogeneous “network of networks”. In the context of ETHER, the successful candidate will work on distributed antenna transmission methods, such as distributed beamforming methods involving a number of low Earth orbit satellites, together with methods for flexible radio resource management, e.g., power/bandwidth assignment, scheduling.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from highly motivated and outstanding researchers in the general area of antenna and Reflective Intelligent Surfaces design within its Signal Processing and Communications (SIGCOM) research group. SnT carries out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental, or international partners.

The research group focuses on wireless/satellite communications and networking and is headed by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas. The research areas focus on the formulation, modeling, design, and analysis of future 5G and beyond communication networks that are capable of supporting new services in a cost-efficient manner.

The successful candidate will contribute to a Horizon SNS project on 6G with the main topic on Reflective Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for Terahertz applications that will start on 01/01/2023. Postdoctoral position: Patterned Electrochemistry for photovoltaic applications

A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory for Energy Materials (LEM), led by Prof. Phillip Dale in the Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS) at the University of Luxembourg. LEM is part of a photovoltaics cluster comprising three groups and around 25 researchers. This position is for a prestigious European EIC Pathfinder project, REMAP, which aims to re-invent lithography with a first application in structured solar cells.

The applicant will investigate how to electrodeposit metal precursor structures in patterned arrays to later be converted into inorganic semiconductors for semi-transparent and micro-concentrator solar cells. The structuring will be realised using magnetorheological electrolytes (MRE) consisting of masking and active species. The main work is to understand how to electrodeposit arrays of uniform metallic precursor thin films from both aqueous and ionic liquid MRE using a custom-built deposition chamber.

Postdoc in Bioinformatics/Biostatistics and Biomedical Machine Learning

We seek a highly motivated bioinformatician or biostatistician who is well versed in the analysis of biological data and bioscientific programming for a project on the study of neurodegenerative disorders. The candidate should have experience in the analysis of large-scale biomedical data (omics, clinical or neuroimaging data), using statistical methods, pathway/network analysis or machine learning. The candidate will conduct integrative analyses of Parkinson’s disease datasets, focusing on omics, neuroimaging and clinical data. This project aims at the development of novel sensing and control approaches to enable a higher degree of autonomy for microsatellites in constellations and for the distributed control of autonomous formation flight of microsatellites. Together with LuxSpace, the research results will be implemented in a development tool and tested using suitable multi-satellite test scenarios.
