Postdoctoral Position: Postdoctoral Fellow (Psychology)

Yale-NUS College is a highly selective liberal arts and science college in Singapore. Co-founded by Yale University and the National University of Singapore, the College is committed to excellence in research and teaching in a full residential programme that integrates living and learning. The central project is a longitudinal, multi-methodological study of the factors that lead adults to pursue life-long learning opportunities in Singapore. These questions will be studied through surveys, focus groups, and interviews. The Fellow will contribute to all aspects of the project, such as design, data collection, coding, data analysis, writing manuscripts, and follow-up grant proposals. The Fellow will also be encouraged to join other projects in the lab and to initiate their own collaborative research related to motivation, goals, mindsets or similar topics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. at the time of hiring. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate post-doctoral research fellow to work on a funded research project that looks into mixed-mode ventilation in the tropics. Postdoctoral Position: Postdoctoral Fellow (Urban Extreme Weather Modeling)

We are re-advertising a position for a highly motivated researcher to lead a modeling study of extreme weather events over Singapore using the newly developed urban-scale weather and climate model at the Center for Climate Research Singapore, CCRS which is part of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). The successful candidate is expected to apply and evaluate the performance of the 100 m urban model known as uSINGV to simulate extreme rainfall and wind events in Singapore. uSINGV is developed by CCRS in collaboration with the UK Met Office and other members of the Unified Model (UM) partnership. The research work includes selection of extreme and high-impact weather cases (with heavy rainfall and strong winds), consolidation of observational data for use in model evaluation, model improvements needed for high resolution applications, setting up numerical experiments and evaluation of simulations, presentation of results at conferences/meetings and writing of progress reports and scientific papers. Developing a suitable methodology to properly evaluate high-resolution simulations with observations will also be an important task. Successful candidates must have a PhD in a related field, ideally obtained within the last 6 years, relevant modeling experience, ability to work with large datasets, ability to work well with others and independently, and excellent technical, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal to disseminate key results to the academic community, project partners and government stakeholders. The position will be based in the urban climate lab of the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore, NUS.

The postdoctoral researcher will be hired to carry out the multidisciplinary research focused on Governance of AI under the PI’s supervision for 2 year. The research fellow is expected to have significant research experience in studying Governance of AI/Autonomous systems/Robotics in Public Policy or closely related fields.  The project using a policy design lens will contribute to the literature on governance of AI through mixed-method research in four phases that focus on trust in AI. Postdoctoral Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Full-Time) in Economics and Public Policy

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellow (RF) who will assist Dr. Zeewan Lee with applied economics research in the field of Labor Economics and Economics of Aging. Each RF will be in charge of one of the two projects described below:

Project #1 The post-doctoral RF will collaborate with Dr. Lee on the study examining older workers’ comparative advantage in the labor market—exploring how their performances change given their various dimensions of skills and work-settings (i.e., team-work vs independent work). This study will be based on a field experiment.

Project #2 RF will collaborate study on the effect of certification on older individuals’ labor market outcomes. To give further details, this study seeks to conduct a program evaluation to examine the effect of healthcare certification on older individuals’ labour market outcomes, financial security, as well as physical and mental well-being. The impact evaluation will be carried out in two ways: (1) a random controlled trial (RCT) involving a treatment group and a control group of older residents and evaluation of their relative employability, and (2) a survey-based analysis of employers’ perception of the Certification.

The post-doctoral RF will be involved in all aspects of designing and running the experiment and/or program evaluation. Specifically, expected tasks of the post-doctoral researcher include assisting in the experiment design and facilitation, scheduling/ attending meetings with relevant facilitators and stakeholders, overseeing the progress of the field experiment, data-collection/cleaning, and data analyses. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Economics, Public Policy and/or other related areas and strong foundations in economics, econometrics, and public policy along with Proficient in programming languages e.g. R and Stata.
