Researcher Position: Research Associate for the Project “Cluster of Excellence ‚CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter‘- Extensions of non-equilibrium dynamical mean-field theory”
In our newly established
research group “Dynamics of correlated Quantum Matter” within the Cluster of
Excellence CUI, we aim to understand pathways to control quantum matter with
out of equilibrium protocols. Research topics include:
- (i) developing new tools for microscopic
simulation of strongly interacting quantum systems out of equilibrium
(non-equilibrium Green’s function techniques, extensions of
non-equilibrium Dynamical mean field theory)
- (ii) develop a theoretical description of
time-resolved spectroscopies in solids

Researcher Position: Research Associate for the Project “LD-SODA (Learning-based Data Analysis: Statistics, Optimization, Dynamics and Approximation)” (2 positions)
Mathematical analysis of
machine learning methods within the research project LD-SODA in collaboration
with scientists from the research areas statistics, optimization, dynamics, and
approximation. Successful candidates are expected to analyze and further
develop existing learning-based methods for mathematical data analysis with

Researcher Position: Research Associate in inorganic geochemistry for the DFG Project “Ocean Life on the brink of extinction: Quantifying the collapse of marine ecosystems during the Permo-Triassic climate crisis”
The employee will investigate
changes in the geochemical records, more specifically Fe speciation, oxygen
isotopes and boron isotopes, across the Permian-Triassic
transition using newly collected material. The inorganic geochemical proxies
provide information on changes in the environmental conditions and will be
quantitively integrated with ecological datasets collected by other members of
the research team. We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrable
interests, skills and experience in geochemistry, with evidence of
having investigated deep time geochemical records. Additional experience of one
or more of the following would be an advantage: collecting either Fe speciation
data or boron isotopes, working as part of a research team.

Researcher Position: Research Associate for the Project “InteGreatDrones” (2 Positions)
Research and (prototypical)
development work in the field of distributed operating systems with the
application area smart city & industrial internet of things - including
publications and public relations work as part of a BMDV joint project
(InteGreatDrones). Relevant research areas include developing paradigms for
distributed operating systems, in particular software architectures and
evaluation methods for middleware systems. In the InteGreatDrones project, a
concept for the optimized control of a heterogeneous swarm of drones is to be

Researcher Position: Research Associate for the Project: KISS-Künstliche Intelligenz zur schnellen Simulation von wissenschaftlichen Daten
The KISS project is a national
consortium of ten research centres in Germany, led by the Universität Hamburg
and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The main
goal of this project is the development of machine learning methods for the
resource-efficient simulation of complex scientific datasets in particle
physics, astroparticle physics, hadron- and nuclear physics, and astronomy. Postdoctoral
research associates will conduct cutting-edge research and duties include the
development of algorithms, the writing of scientific publications and the
presentation at international conferences. They will be embedded in a highly
international and interdisciplinary research environment that includes the
Department of Physics, DESY, The Centre for Data and Computing in the Natural
Sciences (CDCS), and the Cluster of Excellence “Quantum Universe”. You hold a Doctoral

Researcher Position: Research Associate Position for the Project “CLICCS A1 Carbon Dynamics in the Arctic”
We seek candidates for a
PostDoc positions in the Excellence Cluster ‘Climate, Climatic Change, and
Society’ funded by the German Research Foundation. The position is part of the
project ‘Carbon Dynamics in the Arctic’ (CLICCS A1) aiming to quantify Arctic
sinks and sources of carbon and nutrients in a changing climate. The research
associate will study the influence of dynamic hydrological conditions on carbon
fluxes of heterogenous upland tundra landscapes of Greenland. The research
should cover hydrology effects on both vertical land-atmosphere fluxes of
greenhouse gases and lateral waterborne carbon and nutrient fluxes. The study
will combine field monitoring of soil hydrology and oxygen availability,
dissolved carbon and nutrient contents in discharge waters and land-atmosphere
fluxes of greenhouse gases with catchment-scale hydrological modelling.
Land-atmosphere gas fluxes will be investigated with closed chamber
methodology. The most suitable hydrological modelling strategy wil be
determined together with the selected postdoctoral scientist. We seek
enthusiastic applicants with a PhD in soil science, ecohydrology,
geoecology, geoscience, biogeochemistry or a closely related field.

Researcher Position: Research Associate in a DFG-funded project on bimodal-bilingual activation of German Sign Language and German (CoDiPro)
The cooperative project between
the Institute for German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf (IDGS) and
Sign Language and Audio Pedagogy (D2L, EW) will investigate the development of
bimodal-bilingual co-activation patterns of German Sign Language (DGS) and
German (reading). Deaf and hearing adults as well as deaf students of different
ages and with different language biographies will participate in EEG studies. The
person to be hired will take over central tasks in the already developed
project such as participant acquisition, data collection, data management, data
analysis as well as the publication of the research results with a focus on the

Researcher Position: Research Associate (Postdoc) with a Focus on Violence and Security in the Anthropocene
The position is associated with
Prof Dr Eray Çaylı’s professorship which focuses on Violence and Security in
the Anthropocene. While both the professorship and this post are
interdisciplinary, they both have a number of empirical and methodological foci
that are prioritized and that include the following: Spatial politics;
Qualitative methods; Racialized, classed and/or gendered underpinnings and
consequences of climate change and environmental disasters with a view towards
social justice; Turkey, its environs, and their diasporas. The postdoc is
expected to plan, develop and conduct research projects with these foci in
mind, as well as disseminating findings from their recent and ongoing research
projects (through publications and conference attendance). An excellent
university degree and an excellent and already submitted PhD in relevant
subjects are required. As the post is interdisciplinary, the range of relevant

join a growing and dynamic working group focused on the future carbon balance
of permafrost ecosystems in the northern high latitudes. In collaboration with
the group and project partners, the research associate will advance
methane-relevant soil processes in global models. Such advanced models will

The project aims to elucidate
the evolution of plant parasitic smut fungi with respect to morphology, mode of
interaction and comparative genomics. The project focuses on the Antracoidea
(Basidiomycota) on Carex and has a special focus on host specificity. An
additional focus is the analysis of the evolution of effector genes potentially
relevant for the parasitic interaction. The applicant will be responsible for

Researcher Position: Research Associate on “Ecology of living marine resources”
The successful candidate will
be a member of an ambitious research group focused on the ecology of marine
fish and invertebrates. The scientific work will include laboratory
experiments, field studies and meta-analyses to investigate how commercially
important species respond to external pressures, especially anthropogenic
climate change and stochastic extremes such as heat waves and low-oxygen
events. The research aims to integrate processes across different biological
levels, from subcellular functions to population- and ecosystem dynamics.
Defining ecological niches, energy budgets and reproductive capacities is a
central component of this research. The Institute of Marine Ecosystem and
Fisheries Science (IMF) offers access to several research vessels as well as
modern technologies for animal husbandry and manipulation of environmental
parameters in experimental settings. We are looking for dedicated applicants
with experience in conducting experiments and ship-based field studies. Knowledge
of handling, husbandry and reproduction of aquatic animals is desirable,
as is experience in microscopy, respirometry and enzyme analysis. Advanced

Researcher Position: Research Associate Molecular mechanisms of RNBP-mRNA interactions in the project "VW-foundation: A Novel Complementarity at the Heart of Biology"
This is a PhD position on the
interface of quantitative molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics to

RNA-binding proteins (RNBP) to specifically bind their mRNA clients. The holder
of the position will develop and apply specfic RNA-based and protein-based
approaches to map interactions between RNBP and mRNA with a nucleotide and

Research associates will be
expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will

f-element coordination chemistry. The project involves the design and synthesis
of new multidentate hybrid ligands and their lanthanide and actinide complexes.

Researcher Position: Research Associate for the Project “BioValCat”
The five-year project
“BioValCat” (Enhanced Biomass Valorisation by Engineering of Polyoxometalate Catalysts),
funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant 2022, aims to enable 100% carbon
efficiency from complex biomass by developing innovative POM catalyst-solvent
systems for aerobic and anaerobic applications and to develop this into an
innovative and widely applicable process technology. Polyoxometalates (POMs),
as a unique class of anionic polynuclear metal-oxo clusters with high
structural diversity at the atomic level, are highly promising candidates for
the selective oxidation of biomass to organic acids. In the field of
homogeneously catalysed, selective biomass conversion, POMs are already used
intensively. One example for the potential of POMs is the already
commercialised OxFA process, in which biomass is oxidatively converted to
formic acid in aqueous systems.
